Horse Thieves

The Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue has received the following information
about local horse thieves and wanted to pass it along to everyone in the
Atlanta GA area.
The advice given to protect your tack and horses is good wherever you live.
Happy Trails

We have a local Kennesaw couple that is involved in stealing trailers,
horses and tack(western preferred). The man has been arrested but the woman
is still around. There has not been sufficient evidence to make an
arrest. Please be very careful about buying ANYTHING from people you do not
know...especially from the MARKET BULLETIN or flyers at the local tack and
feed store. Never buy a horse without a current, YELLOW,original COGGINS.
The best way to protect your farm is a video camera. Locks and gates are
easily broken.Keep you expensive saddles in your home, not at your barn.

Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue

The Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue of Georgia has learned from the American
Indian Horse Registry that in March of 2006, Martha Olivo and her Mustang
horse, Cisco, will embark on a cross country trek from northern California
Pacific coast to the shores of the Atlantic in North Carolina. It will be a
9-month journey made at the rate of 20 miles per day, 100 miles per week.
They will travel Monday through Friday and rest on Saturday and Sunday.
Every 9th week they will stop for a week. We will keep you posted with the
scheduled dates when Martha and Cisco should be in your area. For more
information and a detailed map showing the route they will be taking, log
onto www.martholivo.com.

Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue of Georgia

We are starting a major cleanup initiative at the rescue.  Within the next couple of weeks we are hoping to extend the pasture fencing out toward the Arbor Hill Rd.  Then we are planning a major reseeding campaign in the paddock area in hopes of restoring the pasture that was destroyed due to overgrazing. The Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue is continually receiving requests to assist in placing unwanted horses in caring homes.  If you are looking to adopt or buy a horse, please contact us.  We have been approached about placing a 4 yo mare with a 1 yo foal whose owner has died.  If and when we receive more information, we will post it.

Lady Red and The Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue

Lady Red, our 22 yo mustang mare, has found a new home. Chiquita Berry of
Twelve Stone Farms in Talking Rock GA has taken her in. She is currently
enjoying her new friends on 100 acres of fine pasture land and is back to
being a wild horse again. Thank you Chicquita! The Mustang and Wild Horse
Rescue will be posting more information on the Twelve Stone Farms soon. It
is a great place to bring children.
