Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue SB380

The Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue of Georgia is passing on this information as an update to the SB380 Bill. On Friday, April 21st Governor Perdue signed SB380 (www.georgiahorsecouncil/sb380.pdf) into law, this is the beginning of the Georgia Equine Commodity Commission.

This would not have happened if Senator Brian Kemp did not step forward to help the Georgia Equine Industry. Senator Kemp went to bat for the Equine Industry and took a lot of heat in doing so. He appreciates comments or questions so send yours to brian.kemp@senate.ga.gov .  Dr. Gary Heusner (GHC Treasurer) was the person that spoke with Senator Kemp about the starting of this Commission. There is also a special person that we have working for us at the Capitol Dr. Lee Meyers, our state veterinarian. Thank you all.

Thank you to all of you who showed up for Equine Day at the Capitol and to the many meetings along the way. With your support our legislators saw that this was important to our industry.

We are not done! Now we will need to get signatures and commitments to purchase the equine license plate, so gather up all your friends and family to sign up for this tag.  Department of Motor Vehicle will not start making these tags until we have a minimum of 1,000 signatures. Watch for the form on at our website www.georgiahorsecouncil.com .

Not all people know what the word Equine means so explain the meaning to all of those non-horse people. We need to make sure that we get the message out. This is a great day for the Georgia Equine Industry. Spread the word.

Thank you for being a concerned Horse Owner!

(to read this article, copy and past the above site into your browser)
This article was brought to our attention by someone who is concerned
about the welfare of the wild mustangs in the care of our Department of
Interior. It is an interesting read and points out how the very ones
who are entrusted with the care of the mustangs can circumvent the
intention of the law to benefit those who have influence with the
politicos at the expense of these horses they are to be protecting.
Thank you for visiting the Mustang and Wild Horse Rescue of Georgia's
website.
